Next Maritime had the pleasure of sponsoring and assisting to the 22nd Annual London Tanker Operator's Party (LTOPS) last Friday 25th January 2013 at the Honourable Artillery Company HQ in London (Armoury House, City Road, London, EC1Y 2BQ, UK). Friday, 25th January 2013, at 18:30 hours.
The Honourable Artillery Company was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1537 by King Henry VIII. Regiments of the Company have fought with distinction in both World Wars and its current Regiment, which forms part of the Territorial Army, has a demanding and exciting role. The HAC Regiment, which is part of the 1st Artillery Brigade, has had more than 50 officers and soliders mobilised for and deployed on operations in Afghanistan in the last two years.
The Company is a Registered Charity whose purpose is to attend to the "better defence of the realm" and this purpose is primarily achieved by the support of the HAC Regiment. Members of the Regiment are drawn, for the most part, from young professional men and women working in and around the City and Greater London. Those leaving the Regiment may become Veteran Members and remain within the fraternity of the Company, which they then serve in a variety of ways.
The Company, whose Captain-General is HM Queen Elizabeth II, is governed by a Court of Assistants. The Court operates through a number of Committees and together they provide the strategy and policy to be implemented by the Executive.
The Company has unique features and traditions. Its Headquarters is in Armoury House, which serves as a home for the Regiment and, in order to raise funds, is utilised together with the Artillery Garden for events like the LTOPS.
At LTOPS we have enjoyed great success with our annual party since its founders' inaugural event in 1992 attended by our Managing Director, Francesc Dianez. This is the most prestigious and lively gathering in the shipping community's calendar. This event is now well established and has world-wide networking appeal. Demand for places and sponsorship is growing year on year. This was a great evening meeting old friends and new contacts.
